Cumbria Children and Young People's Service are delivering a number of Signs of Safety Core Training courses.
If you have already attended a two day training course in the past, there is not need to book onto this core training, as this is an online version of the two day training.
Course Overview
Our vision is that we believe that the best place for children and young people to grow up is within their families and networks where they have the potential to care for them safely, and when this is not possible, we will provide a secure and stable home and help them achieve their full potential.
To support this vision, Cumbria Children and Young People's Services, endorsed by the CSCP, use Signs of Safety as our approach to practice. This Core Training programme (previously known as the two-day training) will introduce this risk-organised, strengths-based approach to working with children and families. We will explore the key principles of working in this way, and how it is applied in practice.
Delivery of Course
This is a blended learning programme, delivered solely online, and there will be some opportunities for self-directed learning, as well as group webinars. All elements of the programme must be completed for the course to be completed and they need to be done in sequence.
Please only commit to a programme if you are able to attend ALL the webinars in that course. It is not possible to join other sessions in different courses.
Who should attend?
This training is mandatory for all social workers and managers, and should be attended by all those working with children and families across the Council who undertake or contribute to the assessment, intervention and review of the safeguarding needs for a child or young person. The training is also for safeguarding leads and supervisors in Early help who are using Signs of Wellbeing and Success.
We also offer a proportion of spaces on the training to our partner agencies, and strongly encourage safeguarding leads from across the partnership to attend to enable them to cascade the learning within their own agencies.
