Trauma informed practice training

A trauma informed approach to safeguarding children in a multi-agency context.

Who this training is for

This training is only for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL's) in schools.

Aims

This one - day training event is for anyone professionally responsible for safeguarding children. This event will consist of a one day interactive in person, training event and a follow up two - hour supervision session. There will be two opportunities for people to attend this course. 

The aim is to provide access to some of the key trauma informed concepts, tools and techniques professionals in Health and Social care, education and the justice system can use in their day to day work, when working with vulnerable children and their families and carers. 

Objectives

Participants will be introduced to a trauma informed approach informed by the work of Dr Bruce Perry, the Anna Freud Centre and Therapeutic Life story work international.

Learning outcomes

Participants to understand how trauma impacts on child development and how to respond in a trauma informed way so to better engage vulnerable children and their families when working together to safeguard children.
